With completion of the Qubic Technical Specification, Qubic has officially established a new blockchain technology standard. It reached a mind-blowing transaction speed of 15.52 million transactions per second (TPS) recently on its live Layer 1 mainnet. This milestone exceeds current performance standards by several orders of magnitude and represents a major breakthrough in blockchain technology processing capabilities. Unlike past performance demos that have taken place in spec test environments, Qubic’s accomplishment was realized on its actual operational mainnet. The team ultimately was able to run the test in a live environment for a longer period. They collectively performed an astounding amount of synchronized, parallel CPU cycles.
Record-Breaking Performance
Among many successful tests at our Qubic live environment, the Qubic team reached transferring 1.518 billion transactions. This remarkable technical feat resulted in a flashy headline number of 15.52 million transactions per second (TPS). This performance is a stark contrast to the performance of other leading blockchain platforms. Using Solana as an example, the upper limit of their network under the best possible scenario is around 65,000 TPS. Likewise, Sui, Aptos and Arbitrum all fall short of the 1 million TPS mark.
That was a fantastic victory for Qubic! It did all this without the need for rollups, gas fees, or Layer 2 solutions. This is a testament to the efficiency and scalability of its Layer 1 architecture. The team has made all test data publicly available, providing transparency and allowing public scrutiny of results to serve as a valuable check on the data.
Architectural Innovation
Qubic’s world beating performance is the result of its unique architectural design focused entirely on high-performance computing applications. The system is tailored to address any computational task, not merely the transfer of financial assets. This unique ability creates a whole new world of possibilities for what blockchain technology can do.
The Qubic system can accelerate artificial intelligence workloads, from model inference and data pipeline processing to model training. On top of that, it empowers decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN), like sensor grids and geospatial data routing. In addition, the system enables composable decentralized finance (DeFi), made possible by real-time computation and instantaneous settlement.
Implications for Future Technologies
With this extraordinary set of capabilities, Qubic is a prime candidate to become the backbone of these complex, advanced technologies. This consists of artificial general intelligence (AGI) and distributed AI systems. Its unique power to run complicated calculations, in real-time and near-instantaneously, puts it in a class all its own for these uses. The implications of this technology could reach far beyond the transportation sector, improving the efficiency and scalability of decentralized systems.
