Developers Are Still Building In July, Starknet, Sui, Cardano, Polkadot and Avalanche all experienced robust growth in developer commits. Their increases were from 20% to 45% m-o-m! This explosion is a clear sign of rapid development and innovation happening within these blockchain ecosystems. The price increases for these five cryptocurrencies are testimony to their ongoing work to become more scalable, more functional and more efficient overall.
Starknet showed the biggest development, with the highest growth of 40 – 45 % total GitHub commits. Starknet is a zero-knowledge rollup Layer-2 solution that aims to improve Ethereum’s scalability and transaction speed. These initiatives are all part of a broader push to make Ethereum a more efficient, performant platform that is able to process a larger uptick in transactions.
Sui recorded a notable 35–40% commit growth. Sui is a Layer-1 blockchain developed from the Move programming language. Due to its fast development pace, it’s been able to draw engineering talent from across the country. Sui’s position right now is as a dark horse for advanced, complex decentralized applications (dApps) and non-fungible token (NFT) use cases.
In second place was Cardano, with a quarter to a third more development activity compared to previous months. Most of Cardano’s announcements were focused on its Hydra Layer-2 protocol and general smart contract optimizations. As a result, these enhancements make the network faster, more efficient and more effective.
Polkadot was the second highest with 20% growth in commits, and there are few reasons for that. Parachain integration, improvements to Polkadot’s governance model, and upgrades in relay chain performance are among these factors. These improvements have been concentrated on making the Polkadot network more performant, intuitive, and efficient.
Avalanche saw tremendous developer commit growth for the month of July. This significant growth further emphasizes the continuous development and innovation taking place within the Avalanche ecosystem.
