BlockNews — one of the world’s leading blockchain media platforms, brought their wildly popular “Hodler’s Lounge” party. This dynamic and successful convening happened on July 20, 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event, held at the Star Sky Lounge 69, a prominent high-altitude venue, brought together nearly 200 representatives from various sectors of the blockchain industry, including project teams, investors, trading platform executives, technical developers, and community leaders from Southeast Asia, China, Europe, and the Middle East. We created a “Hodler’s Lounge” to highlight the innovative, rapidly emerging space called BTCFi or Bitcoin Native Finance. It connected communities around the world to discover how we can build Web3 sustainably.
MDEC's Endorsement of Web3 in Malaysia
The conference opened with a welcoming address by MDEC, the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation. Ms. Ivy from MDEC highlighted how important Web3 is to accelerate Malaysia’s digital transformation.
MDEC pledged its commitment to ensure that such projects operate in compliance with the law and in the best interest of Malaysia and Malaysians. This national initiative seeks to position Malaysia as a regional anchor point that connects the world’s Web3 ecosystem.
Deep Dive into BTCFi Narratives
The underlying theme to this years “Hodler’s Lounge” was thinking through BTCFi stories. The METHANE project team gave a wealth of knowledge regarding the technology stack and future models for Bitcoin Native Finance.
To facilitate this discussion, the GOAT Network project team brought a creative energy, diving deep into BTCFi narratives. They were more focused on building Web3 infrastructure and creating native yield. The event doubled as the first stop of GOAT Network’s global offline expansion plan.
