NFTs to the Rescue?
Here’s where the real fun begins, and where my own experience will make a real difference. Solayer, as a restaking protocol, has a massive opportunity to leverage NFTs to gamify the user experience and create some serious hype.
Forget your boring, static JPEGs. Picture Solayer NFTs that can dynamically upgrade depending on your restaking behavior. The NFT you create with all of your restaked SOL will get stronger (and cooler looking) the more SOL you choose to restake. Think Tamagotchi meets DeFi.
It doesn't stop there. We might do that through a limited-edition NFT that gives you access to special restaking pools or increases your reward rate. Or perhaps NFTs representing various lanes of the Solayer protocol, each with specific advantages and rarity.
Restaking NFTs Now that’s an interesting idea that would have some serious potential to create fire. It mixes the appreciation potential and financial incentives of DeFi with the collectibility, creativity and community of NFTs. Secondly, it provides people something else to flex on Twitter with other than their PnL.
Alright, not so fast there, buddy. Although the prospects for Solayer to follow in the footsteps of Dogecoin and other meme coin superstars are certainly abundant, let’s be honest with ourselves. The crypto space is fraught with projects that said they were going to provide everything and produced nothing.
